Posts: 1 A question for my word maven friends....for most people the term redundancy implies repitition. If I say something exactly the same way three times I am being both repititious and redundant. I am looking for a word that describes saying that same thing different ways. If I give people two different examples of the same concept, what would that be--certainly it isn;t repititious but might it be redundant. It is sort of like triangulation when someone or some thing is being located. You take a reading in one direction and then a second reading from a slightly different angle. At the point of intersection, you find the person or object. In medieval and renaissance times there was a great word for it--copia...but we don't use this word today. Thanks for your help.

I do it all day long. It's my job.... :0)
And my concept of redundant connotes unwanted repetition, so rephrasing is not redundant, it's helpful. Redundant can be helpful if, as an example, it's a backup system for your life support.
