It's my impression that AI isn't a topic daily on every one's mind and so I am wondering

1) If that's because a) Almost everyone subconsciously feels threatened by it and therefore avoids discussion and participation, or b) I'm wrong and it's everywhere

2) Where I can go to participate; that some AI programs act so genuinely human that contests are staged in which the participant communicating by keyboard has to judge whether he's chatting with a human or an AI program. Specifically I find the prospect fascinating and would like a link to such a program

Fal thank you most kindly, I've saved the link in my Faves. Vastly amusing, what great fun. Having a chat with Oliver, he advised, "a pantheist is a form of drudgery. I suppose that makes sense."

When I advised him I was a child, he replied, "You are too old for me."

Speaking of intelligence, something Bill Gates' minions have been sorely denied, when I placed that link he set it at the bottom of the Faves list, as his algorithm correctly requires, but I would like it to be at the top. The usual way this is done, apparently, is to drag the link to the new position in which you desire it to find it

However, the way Bill has set it up, its climb is very slow; so if for instance you should have 450 entries in this list, dragging your most Fave from the bottom to the top would take 32 hours with your finger holding the mouse key depressed the whole time

So I highlighted the entry, noting that Bill had provided a "Cut" function. Great, I mused, I will cut it out then paste it it the top. Returning there, however, I noted that Bill had provided no "Paste"

So I guess I'll leave it at the bottom

God bless Bill Gates

>leave it at bottom

or..
a) if you have that many favorites, you could should organize them into folders; then you could create one called favorite favorites and move your favorite favorite to the top of that.
b) Customize the Links Toolbar (see the tutorial link, at the bottom) to put favorite favorites on your Toolbar [better]
c) download/install the Firefox browser* (takes less than five(5) minutes), which unlike IE, has cut/paste for Bookmarks [best]

*edit: during the download process, you are asked if you want to import your IE favorites. answer in the affirmative unless you want to start over creating bookmarks. Download Firefox

Firefox

A nice feature of Firefox is that you can grab a URL from the Location textbox and drag it into your Bookmarks menu and drop it where you want to place it within the menu or any sub-menus.

Very helpful stuff, guys! I use FireFox, and immediately tried cut & paste - good to know! It is much faster... And didn't know about dragging the URL; also good to know! Thanks! :0)

I only wish I cold ensconce a thread such as this amongst my Faves If you can Save other places, I don't see any reason you couldn't save this page.

Or, you could do something similar* do what I do: if there are relatively small pieces of information I want to save--say, a post--I Copy just that and Save it in a special folder.
*I won't recommend you do what I do, which is Paste it into an e-mail to myself, then save it in an e-mail folder because e-mail is the only place I know how to create a folder.

another nice Firefox feature is the Notebook -- you open your notebook and highlight the part of the web page you want to save and click "Clip", saving not only the clip but the original link. you can create and label multiple notebooks.

there may be something equivalent in IE7, but I haven't researched it.

edit: the only IE trick I can think of is to create a desktop shortcut to the page (right-click on the page, select "Create Shortcut" -- of course, Add to Favorites creates a bookmark to the thread you want; just rename it so you know what it really is.
