Having 12 people (normally), all with their own versions of "reasonable doubt", creates an automatic "filter", if you will, that tends toward the center. They all need to work towards agreement, and that does eventually happen in most cases. I suspec

In criminal cases in my state, a defendant is presumed innocent until the prosecutor can prove his guilt "beyond a reasonable doubt." However, the term "reasonable doubt" is not defined, presumably being left to the discretion of the individual juro

I was in the "land hurricane" that hit our city with 116 mph winds last week and lost my power for 5 day. Not a tornado, mind you. I just noticed the nice things that were mentioned by zmjezhd said. Thank you very much, I'm much appreciative.

Not to cast aspersions on anyone's beliefs, but St. Ethelreda holds the people in her hearts and prayers? I really wonder. How does that affect grammar. Seems to be stretching it a bit Fr. Steve. As the pook says, it must be just a convent

Who knows? I suppose that Chuchan of the Shanyagir tribe spoke some sort of Tungusic language, but was speaking with I M Suslov in Russian or being translated for him by some bil

I dunno. He tosses off the term 'thunder' like it's a normal thing and then says 'what the Russians call lightning.' The Shanyagir had a word for thunder but not for lightning?
